Traded the 64 Lemans for a 66
This past Saturday I traded the 64 Lemans for a 66 Lemans. The story goes the 66 was originally registered in Arizona and made its way Ohio in early 2000’s. Reportedly had stayed in the original purchaser’s family since new. It was original a saddle type color, and painted purple about 20 years ago- it’s not an expensive paint job but shows very well. The sheet metal and frame on this car is amazingly clean - looks like a new car underneath and sports the original fuel tank and straps.
It was born with a 326 and ST300 but now has a 455 with KRE 85cc D-Ports (supposedly 325 can), Northwind intake, TCI TH350, 12 bolt 3.90 rear with c-clip eliminators, Doug’s headers, 3” exhaust with electric cut outs. It has a Gear Vendors OD unit and the installer didn’t want to cut the floor during installation so he added additional body bushings to create clearance- and it has Catalina springs all around. Also has 4 wheel disc brakes but the pedal sinks so I’ll have to work on that. The interior was redone some years ago by a custom shop and will need freshening up - original console too. The recent owner had engine built by Butler McMaster in Maine around 2018 - he’s trying to find the build sheet as he doesn’t know cam specs or compression. It has lots of lope! Really looking forward to fixing the small stuff and making it mine. Some pics below - it looks better in pics than in person.
