Authenticating a 70 GTO M-40 Transmission
Have a 70 GTO with a TH 400 transmission that has a PY 11259 tag. From what I've read the PY is the standard issue trans and the last numbers are the build date . (Please correct if this is wrong). The vin. # on the opposite side of trans is 70 J 120169.
The 69 are very lightly stamped. The vin tag on the car is 242370Z120169. So the J on the trans , clearly a J , should be a Z indicating a Fremont plant build. Has anyone come across this type of anomaly before? Thanks |
