Roger's car strip-specs listing shows a FR manual steering gearbox installed.
There was a recent thread here that briefly discussed a FR manual steering gearbox wih the benefit of more room for headers, with less weight. Unfortunatly there was no mention of P/N installed and weight savings. FR sells an OEM style replacement, in addition to a racing type of manual steering gearbox. If I remember correctly the 1969 Firebird pitman arm and centerlink are peculiar to the 1969 Firebird. What I would like to know is what FR gearbox folks are using (P/N), and whether or not the OEM pitman arm (and centerlink) is retained. What other parts must be replaced to make it work? Nice article, and car Roger! I've read your name many times over the years when racing results are covered. Its nice to see the combo you take into late rounds so frequently.
