[MD79TA]

I have read that I need a netural safety switch on my 1979 trans am with a four speed transmission to race at the local drag strip. Today I called the tech support at the strip and they told me on a standard it was not available on my car and is not required. Has any one had any experience with this in the past? I have been told that they did have a clutch switch but most broke over the years. Will they let me race on the strip. Reason for my question is that it is a 70 mile drive and don't want to drive that distance and not allow to run. Also it is a 1979 trans am with a 400 4 speed. I had it dynoed a couple of weeks ago an it produced 310 rwhp and 400 ft tq/ Any guess on an et. I was hoping for mid 13 ?
