Intermediate/Tailpipes Second Gen X-Flow:
I have a new Flowmaster Crossflow System on my 1975 Formula. It fits perfectly and has no resonance. The probelms started only when I tried to install my disc brake 10 bolt; the pipes going up and into the muffler case interfere with the disc brake lines.
Rather than buy an entire new system, I was wondering if there are any sources for just the intermediate and tailpipes for a second generation Firebird with a crossflow??? Seems I can buy the muffler outright, no problem, but Pypes only offers the entire $600.00 kit. I would like to hear from any forum members who do exhaust work as my local shop says they cannot duplicate the bends needed for the crossflow tailpipes. Since the system is brand new, I considered maybe having a shop modify the inlet pipes and move them outboard, away from the brake lines, or even using a section of flat-style tubing. Any advice would be appreciated....Thanks...Robert P.S. One of my buddy's in high school had dual glasspacks mounted transversely behind the axle with dual tailpipes, much like the old chambered system...this might even be easier than a crossflow????
