Default '71 GP Radio repair

Anybody here know how to fix the stock Delco AM-FM radio in a '71 GP? I don't know much about stereo equipment but this radio wasn't being used(had an aftermarket radio hooked up on the side of the console and it looked horrible so I removed it). It has a pair of 6x9 speakers in the rear which are 30 watts each. Sounds kinda weak to me?? I'm not a stereo nut but I would like it to be clear and powerful and not full of static or crackle. Do I need new speakers. How many watts is the original radio? Help. Anybody.
