transmission Cooler Ratings.
Is there a BTU standard by which coolers are rated, or do manufacturers just baffle us with BS?
I have a B&M super cooler stacked plate rated at 9400 BTU. I have a same size AND THICKNESS nearly Identical stacked plate Hayden cooler Says its rated at 20K BTU. These ratings seem very market driven to me as I would find it a bit long to get the total area and the heat dissipation on black painted Aluminum. Thoughts?

I cannot speak for the BTU ratings but as you are aware the stack plate design is desirable.
Don't go over size unless a loose converter situation, and cruising slippage. Some suggest you can 'over cool' a trans. This link is somewhat related: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d+plate+design .

It’s the same deal as radiators, in that while added cores by means of stacked depth does add to the overall BTUs that can be dissipated because it’s more square inches, it not as effective as if you had all of that area just done in just one layer.
After that you have to add in weather or not the tubes themselves have internal fins.
