Default 67 Tempest build

Not really a build, upgrading the car to suit me. Bought the car a few months ago. All steel except hood, deck lid and bumpers. Factory glass, 2x3 tube chassis with a 9"and turbo 400. Currently has a 467 in it, but replacing it soon. Not sure what engine will replace it yet.

First pic is after removing the steel front end. It was once a tilt front end, then modified into a one piece front end (6 bolts to remove).

It was pretty hokey so I had a local chassis shop mount a one piece front end. Also had them mount a chute.

The steering wheel was super low, literally in my lap. I had them move it from below the dash bar, to above it. The shifter mount was weird too, it came off the seat bar and was supported from the side off one of the seat mounts. So I had them put in a normal shifter mount.

Here are a few pics of the headers they built for the car. 2 1/8 stepped to 2 1/4.

Early Dec I'll start working on the car again. Still need to upgrade the wiring, fuel system, ignition system, and gauges before it hits the track. Probably going to swap out the 10.5W's for 14x32's too.

You need to try and make the March Meet in Bakersfield.
We are already entered again. Hope to see the car there.

Yes, cool car. Just cant stand L88 cowl induction hoods on Pontiacs though. Belong on chebbys. With the money in those headers maybe a set of 465cfm CNC Tigers on top a 541 ?

Doesn't look like an L88 hood to me. 69 Camaro style cowl induction. I like the stock hoods better, but the cowl looks better than those ugly pro stock scoops. You can make more power with the ugly scoops though lol. Nice car BTW

Thanks everyone.

RaceGTO65- Never been to the March Meet, but I looked it up and it looks like a good time. I'll be there.

Dragncar- I'm ok with the cowl hood. Not many options with Pontiacs, a 67 is a little late to use a SD hood. I'm hoping the car ends up with a Tiger head engine, we'll see how things work out.

First-rate build all the way.

Most definitely worth the wait, operating a business and at the same time building a race car of this caliber is no small feat.

Congratulations!

Bart
