Default 72 GTO. New care taker.

First of all I wanted to start out by saying that I am glad to be back into A bodies again. Not new to the board however and have had the privilege to own a 68 Firebird Convertible 350 HO and a 74 GTO, something that I have always wanted. Raced both at the pure stock drags and had a ton of fun. I have not had an A body since back in the late 90's when I sold my RA 4 Judge to Mark W. and a 70 GTO Convertible.

Some on here know this but this winter I had an opportunity to purchase one of my favorite Pontiacs ever, a 72 455 HO GTO. It actually belonged to Pat Brown before he sold it to Steve, the gentleman I purchased it from early this year. Long story short, it is getting some love and should be driving it fairly soon. Look forward to racing in next year also.

Look forward to some great posting in this section as I am truly excited to have her.

Jody Traylor

Looks to me like it will be a treat to see final product too. I imagine a PSMCDR will be in order and then a MCACN for a reunion of sorts.

Here are a few of the car coming apart. Originally I was going to do my best to preserve the car and bring it back to look like it did when Pat had it but it just seemed that every panel had something going on with it and by the time we fixed things, blended in areas, etc, we would not have much more time in it than just taking it all apart and repainting it.

The major concern was fixing the rust area that was there when Pat had it. The gentleman that restored it before Pat bought it.....well....let's just say it wasn't the best quarter panel installation so we made that right and it is perfect. Also, a Vintage air system was added by the next owner so it had to be removed and all the original stuff put back. Luckily it does not cut up anything except for a place in the dash that should not have a vent which is now fixed. He kept all the original stuff so that worked out better than it could have.

I will post some more pictures of it going back together in a few.

Is this the Infamous X-Code 4speed Outlaw GTO that stole a free 455HO upgrade/option from PMD ? The real deal living legend ?

If same car I have an older picture of it and it looks super good in the pose with a rear spoiler, stripes, H-combs and Firestones.

Great job you guys are doing with it.

Haha...Thanks and yes it is. It was a killer look. I just got back some progress pictures. Rear bumper is on, core support is on and radiator is in. Waiting on a harness and should be done under the hood.

Thanks everyone for the kind words so far.

Thanks everyone ! Mark has the motor out of it but that is about all. He is not restoring it and hoping to race it in the near future.
