who keeps all there old car related magazines?
Why do I feel an attachment to, and have a problem throwing away my hundreds old car magazines from early 80s on. Do I need a Phissiacahiatrest? Mostly Streetrodder, Cars and parts, Musclecar, Does anyone else have this Problem? Is there any good reason for them not to be recycled into new ones?

I'm guilty. I have some from the mid 50's to late 60's that I've gotten in the past 15 years, but I started buying heavily around 71-72 and continued for many years. Funny how I can pull one out of a box after 20+ years and remember some of the feature cars and stories.
My favorite is reading over the old Hot Rod magazine classifieds. On the last couple of pages they had a section where readers could put cars for sale with black and white pics. You would see everything from Fuel Altereds and rails, to 2 year old muscle cars for under 2 grand. |

As I recall, they original drive train was gone...but they did do an update later stating the car was found to be legit and under a restoration due to it's rarity... and perhaps year to 18 months later the car was show restored w a simple B&W photo...not much of a Pontiac big deal to the Magazine crew, as they were DEEP into Chebby then... I was driving around in my 1st 2nd Gen T/A then, same as the cover car below. |

I love old car magazines from the 70s and 80s. Got boxes stuffed away to read on a rainy day.

I had all kinds of Road&Track magazines but they got tossed when we moved to Delaware. I still have my late 70s to late 90s Mustang Monthly magazines but they're all tucked away.... seeing I never got that Shelby I wanted. Even the "best and most valuable" Playboys I had from the late 60s on up are gone.

You are not alone. My gf says I'm a certified hoarder. I also have a lot of old car brochures. Sometimes when I see interesting old mags or brochures at a swap meet I'll buy more.

I like keeping my old car mags around. My wife does not. I have to stash them so she won't stumble over them and threaten to pitch them. Sometimes I feel like I'm hiding Playboys from my mom.

If the women knew how much these old car magazine are worth, they'd leave em alone.... maybe. They don't teach this stuff in school and it's not like you can run to any ol library and find em to read. Lots of info and history between those covers.

Have prob 150 lbs of boxed '60's through early 90's car mags. About 15 years ago, a local Corvette collector gave me his Car & Drivers from the '60's into the 70's, then have about 5 years of Car & Driver ftom my subscription into the early 80's. Also have a near complete set of early ThunderAm magazines, along with several years of Guide to Musclecars, Muscle Car, MuscleCar Review, Pontiac Enthusiast, a few dozen HPP's, Many years of Smoke Signals & GTOAA Gas Can & The Legend. Quit subscribing to most in the late 90's. Occasionally have picked up an issue if there was a tech article that was of major interest.

Well I feel better , Maybe I will just leave them alone, At least I know if I need to go to therapy I won't be alone. Maybe we can all steal the the car and driver mags from the waiting room.
