1966 tie rod end compatibility
My 66 Bonneville really needs all new tie rod ends, they are shot. I can find the inners easily, but the outers are much rarer and more $$. Are 66 full size tie rods the same as 66 GTO/tempest/Lemans? Those are much easier to find and cheaper.

GTO tie rods will not fit a big Pontiac. It is big Pontiac only and I believe that it is 1963-1970. You'll need to verify that interchange.

I don't think so; Can you grab a Hollander's Interchange and advise?

slight correction to SteveP's post:
outer tie rod ES356 (R or L) is Type 2 '65 - '70. (The '61 - '63 uses ES-301 (R or L), '64 - Type1 '65 useES-345 (R or L) ) |

I know Chevy used a different one. This was my problem with putting an Impala Disk conversion on my original 68 GP. It will get done just to match the 4-3/4 bolt pattern on the rear but it will need to be machined to match the Pontiac outer tie rod. Pat

I doubt that Olds tie rod ends will work.
Thanks for the correction Matt. I knew that the center link was late 63-70 and figured that the tie rods were the same interchange.

I put 76 Firebird disk brakes on a 66 Tempest a while back and had a problem with finding outer tie rods that would thread into the existing center link. I had a local macine shop in Forest Park, GA re-thread them for $75 pr and they worked fine. Find one that fits the spindle taper and go from there.

The B body Pontiac chassis is Pontiac specific and is second design 65-70 If memory serves me correctly.
