Texas Area Pontiac Machine Shop?
The rear seal in my 400 engine finally gave out it's last little bit of ability over the weekend.
There is no trusted machine shops in Austin, TX that can or work on Pontiac motors. I am hoping someone here in San Antonio, Houston, DFW or Texas area has some experience with a shop that can provide positive recommendations of where to take my motor. I have a 68 YC 400 engine with #13 heads but I have no idea of any other internals but a little cam lope sound. I am wanting some one that can go through the entire motor and do proper machine work for me. I know of P-dude, Bulter and the big shops but figure I would try something local if they have a proven record from folks here. Thanks Ray |

These guys did my most recent machine work:
http://www.performancemachineshop.com/ including putting a sleeve in a piston bore back in summer 2010. I have not had any problems with their work so far, but I have not put very many miles on the car, and no strip time. I am interested to here if anything has become of the subject of this post: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...0&postcount=28 PSW |

I was happy with their work for the most part,no major issues to speak of,certainly none that were their fault. Other than that,Dave @ CHS was the only other guy in town I let near my stuff. I posted in that other thread that psw linked to as well. FWIW Bret P. |

Anyone ever use Colvin Automotive?
http://colvinautomotive.com/ A number of things are intriguing. They did Lance Armstrong's GTO for the TV show Overhaulin.' They have a dyno on site. They always have lots of very nice looking 60's and 70's classic cars in their lot, including lots of Pontiacs. I have never talked to anyone who actually had work done by them, and would like to know. Plus, they are pretty close to where I live... Any comments? PSW |

Story from my best friend (I saw him working on the GTO a month after the show aired and I got to see the GTO close up) that worked at a shopped owned by a close friend of Lance was that Foose brought in his own people to do all the work. |
