Trim on Pedal Pads
I've read different statements on whether or not (and which) pads should have the chrome trim around them. Does anyone know the original layout on a '64? (gas, brake, clutch, & e-brake) - Thanks

Ebrake no trim. Gas pedal had trim if you have power brakes.

The trim was used on power brake cars. all pedals except E- Brake

OK... once again I have conflicting explanations. The common denominator here is whether or not the vehicle had power brakes - and that makes sense to me. And at a minimum the gas pedal had trim on it and the ebrake did not. The question that now remains is if the clutch and brake pads had trim or not. Can anyone back up their responses with some documentation or something? Sorry to contest the responses... but I can't for the life of me find the right answer - and would love for someone to set this matter straight once and for all. - Thanks.

I think they are all attempting to say the same thing; Jerry just said it the most eloquently...
...and he is correct. K

If the car had power brakes, the gas pedal, brake pedal, and clutch pedal (if manual tranny) got the stainless trim. If the car didn't get power brakes, then no trim on any of the pedals.

I have seen completely original 64 and65 GTOs and I remember the 64 did not have power brakes and did not have trim on any of the pedals. The 65 was a power brake car and had the trim on the gas, brake, and clutch pedals. Neither car had trim on the e-brake pedal.

For what it's worth - no trim on 64 e-brake pad; trim on brake and clutch for manual tranny; no trim on accelerator for non-power brake cars. My 64, non-power brake car was judged as Gold Concourse and no point deductions for interior with the above configuration.

Just to add: my non-power (original unrestored) '65 does not have trim on any of the pedals.

My non-power brake '64 with a 4-spd did not have any trim on any of the pedals.

Anybody have access to the Tech book that is used at the GTOAA National Shows. Certainly would be nice if that was more readily available.

If a 64 had power brakes, the clutch, brake & accelerator pads had trim plates. The e-brake pad did not. If a 65-67 had power brakes, the clutch, brake, accelerator pads AND e-brake pad had trim plates. This info is from "The GTO Restoration Guide, 1964-1970," by Paul Zazarine & Chuck Roberts. As dhcarguy said, there a lot of experts on this forum. Many have been involved since the GTO was introduced in 64.
