Default Single auction: Three 71 4-speed T/As on eBay

Wow. Some serious projects here.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tchlink:top:en

But I'd be calling on that blue/white interior car if I wasn't up to my eyeballs in projects already...

Nice, but same guy tried to sell one of those three 71's for 26,500 recently, the "Car 2", was discussed somewhere here on PY. Wonder how much he thinks all three are worth.

Definitely looks like he's bidding it up to make it look like a have to have deal, to entice a fool.

Not a surprise. I guess he doesn't really want to sell them that badly. There isn't even close to 60K worth of parts there.

I dont think he is totally out of line on asking 60k for them. Numbers mathing 4 sp blue cars are hard to find. 20k each sounds better than 25k. Trying to find someone who wants three big projects is going to be a challange.

Looks like there is an ungodly amount of work there to get those cars even in presentable driver condition. Life is too short to work on rusty cars. I learned that one the hard way!

And there's that white one on saw in the b.g. of the Craigslist listing. The one looks pretty decent. The other two...

With a rotisserie, access to a blaster and some room, this isnt that surmountable of work. I dont see missing frame rails....
Maybe not worth what hes going to ask,but the cars are worth fixing.
dont see 3 Lucy '71s together very often, T/A or not..

he told me 25k as well. I was interested in the car originally from Memphis, as that's my hometown..but 25 is way too much. 12-15 sounded more like it. He really doesn't want to sell. There is not 25k worth of parts on the car #3,which sounds like it is the only numbers car. I bet 12-15 is still more than the sum of its numbers parts.. sounds like the member who saw these three for 26.5k was offered about what they are worth. Bet this guy bought them for that price and now thinks he will hit a homerun..

One other note about the car I used to own. He has it listed as an A/C car, but the PHS showed that it actually wasn't. When I bought the car, I got the PHS docs with it and it was not an A/C car from the factory. One of the first owners decided he wanted A/C and took it to the local GM dealer and they did the conversion using all GM parts. So, the next owner will have to decide if they want to keep the A/C or repair the firewall and put it back stock. With the conversion, it makes me wonder if the VIN stamping on the firewall was lost when they cut it for the A/C conversion.

Not to sound like a broken record here, but if he indeed wants $25k for each car, then I agree that's extremely overpriced for a car that needs completely torn apart and restored. You'll have $60k or more in just one to do it right, and likely more money if you have to pay someone to do the work.
So you have to ask, what are these cars really worth in todays market, even if only brought back to nice driver condition?? For these cars to sell and make it worth while to most car enthusiasts out there, the purchase price and cost of restoration would have to be near that magical number. Otherwise they'll sit and rot.
You can find better examples for that kind of money, add another $15-$20k and you can buy a pretty nice complete HO and have instant enjoyment for a hell of alot less money in the long run.
Restoring these cars and loosing your ass on them would have to be for the sheer enjoyment and love for the hobby.
