Consider the NapaGold 1045 Oil Filter (Wix 51045) it is smaller.

+2 for the Baldwin B39.

Slightly shorter than most of the others for additjonal header clearance, full flow, quickest repsonse on the gauge and you can block the bypass in the filter housing with no negatives anyplace........

The good news is Wix didn't discontinue the SBC tall truck filter. They still offer that filter, it's just the same size as the standard SBC filter. 🙄

rock auto shows lots of 51258 filters available. if they are really discontinued y'all better buy a bunch of them before they are gone.

There are lots of other standard size good filters that will fit pontiacs with headers... ive been using the mobil1 filter that fits with hedman D ports & big 2" O-port hooker super comps.

And here are the Wix I ordered from Rock Auto. Same filter, only the sticker is changed for Napa and even that is laid out like Wix in same colors and description. These also say made in the USA. They aren't shrink wrapped in plastic though, just come in the box as is.

How do you figure? The Amazon listing is selling them for $89.99 for 12 including shipping but before tax. I placed an order through Rock Auto for 12 of them, which came out to $71.71 including shipping but before tax.

That boils down to the Amazon per-unit cost is $7.50/ea and Rock Auto is $5.98/ea, or roughly 21% cheaper at Rock Auto.

Yikes, thanks for the heads-up. Just bought a case of 12 in case the rumor is true. That said, I'm still seeing them in stock at O'Reilly.

when storing them for a long time be aware they will rust inside.
Keep in a humidity controlled environment

Appreciate the heads-up. I suppose I'll store them in the house rather than the unheated shop space then.

Yep, they're $4.81/ea on Rock Auto. Great deal. What's nuts is that they cost $12.99/ea at O'Reilly. Wild.
