Best big brake upgrade for 2nd gen
What is the best front and rear big brake upgrade you can do for a 72 formula with rear parking brake.
I like to hear the pro's and con's from the sets Front 17 inch rims rear 18 inch and if possible for a decent amount of money. Thanks, Daan |

I put Wilwoods on my 67 and they have been great. I did have a number of issues during the install but nothing to bad.

We make a nice drum-in-hat rear, goes well with the 1LE fronts.
Uses a better caliper than the S10/LS1 rear too. |

Scarebird,
I updated my 10 bolt with moser 7900 big ford bearing ends and 30 spline axles. Will your kit wotk with those upgrades too? |

The best is to use the AFX spindle and a C5/C6 brake kit. Choose a brake setup that has a bracket that fits your rear housing so you have a matching set. Wilwood has the most available options for rear brake setups, but there are others.

Better off with a nice 13" front kit and a D154 or Dyna lite rear kit since you have the ford bearing

But you are correct, the more affordable approach, if braking is the key upgrade you're trying to obtain, would be to use a 13" setup. IF, you DO upgrade the brakes, and use the OE control arms, those things will flex like heck. They flex with the OE brakes and skinny rubber. I would strongly recommend the aftermarket control arm upgrade even before a brake upgrade. I'm sure you will agree, with a decent brake upgrade, cowl deflection is also a concern, so the braces would be a good idea too. .

Ram Air Restorations has a better design for the Y-bar where it attaches to the cowl.
