It has been awhile since I produced a web page update on my site, so here goes.
There has been progress on a couple of fronts. I am sitting here waiting from a call from the painter to see If I will be running out to Indiana tomorrow. If I do not leave tomorrow, I will not be able to leave for Indiana until next Thursday. It will be very tight but on that trip I might be picking up the dragster to bring home. I hope to have it at the Big Dawg Shoot out between the car clubs here in Rochester 09 22 2010. First up are the mechanical updates. Shims have been made to space out the nipples of the water pump, why, the engine plate bolts between the water pump and the timing cover. This moves the water pump out so shims had to be made so that the nipples of the water pump engage the timing cover. On the last trip out to Indiana the engine was brought back to Rochester for detailing. The valve covers need to be stripped and redone, and breathers installed. Arm rests have been installed on the cage of the cockpit to assist this old man getting in and out of the dragster, also Fire nozzles have been installed in the cockpit area. The chrome work is back from the chromer. Tires have been mounted on the rims. As the tires were purchase in Indiana they are of course Hoosiers. The Body and chassis has been shipped off to Bewley's Garage, 220 Park Drive, Plainfield, Indiana, Carey Bewley is doing the paint work and his e-mail is careybewley@yahoo.com and phone number is (317) 372-2244. The entire body was sanded, then smoothed, guide coat applied and then block sanded. Now it is time for the House of Kolor Epoxy Primer/Surfacer. There have been several attempts at laying out graphics and we are getting close. I hope to see the finial layout this weekend. That is the current status of the paint. I will update this page again when there is more to report. That should be very soon. The link to the page is below http://www.leverfamilysite.com/2010_...2010_09_09.htm

Lookin' good. You see my post in the other thread in the "blown" section about your timing cover being a stressed member?

It has been awhile since I posted an update on the progress of the dragster build.
Paint has taken way longer then I ever expected. First one shows base coats before candy green. Second one shows three coats of candy Last one is five with some of the tape pulled off showing some of the white strips. Gold leaf and pin stripping yet to go. The dragster should be coming home early November. Interesting note is the check written as a deposit to start the build was dated 10/30/2009. It is just possible I might pick it up 10/30/2010 Thanks Here is a link to my web site with the last update I have placed there (new to this board). I have not kept it current as the only photos I have are from a cell phone camera. I did supply te painter with a camera and once I have those pictures I will add them to the webd site. http://www.leverfamilysite.com/2010_...2010_09_09.htm Oh yes, one more thing, current weight estimate is 1,900 pounds. that means 1/4 mile ET is 9.13, way to slow. The build for the blower engine has been put on the fast track. If it is done by spring it may go right into the dragster right away, but as an injected engine, not blown, and then progress to the blown engine.

Green is my favorite color. Candy green and gold leaf is going to look pretty sweet when it is done. Body shops are funny sometimes when doing a custom paint job and not "bread and butter" repair. My Can Am was in the shop for 19 months when my father had it done.

The poison Ivy car was my inspreation for the paint schem on this car. I did not try and copy it, just the combinations of the colors.

When I get the engine mounted in the car, wired and plumbed, I will travel as far south as I have to to find an open track

The pieces are about to start to come together!
The frame is actually a dark green with flake in it. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to getting this piece of art home. Many people have put long hard flustrating hours of work into this vehicle and I can not express my thanks enough.
