1968 GTO Power Brake Booster $$
I'm about to spend some $$ for a completely restored 1968 GTO Power Brake Booster, a very nice one. From a highly rated resto shop... so just to double check... with those who might know these details...
Back side tag stamp: 8519 Front side tag Stamp: Needs to be several weeks before the following date... 162 No Delco Morine stamp (upside down or right side up) 1968 GTO has a build date of 06B which decodes to June, second week of production... so I look at a 1968 Calendar and it looks like the car was built during the week starting with the 162th day of the year. Don't worry about what it's costing me... I'm sure I got a better deal than Obama with his Trillions... |

Did you get the build date from the shaft of the rod?

No... what should I observe? I was told the build data is on the front side of the tab and as long as it is a fews weeks before the build date of the car... it's good. Also, from another source... the year is not stamped... only the day of the year... so the same rear tab number can support more than one year. I'm just trying to find out if 8519 is correct for 1968.

I've been told that the correct 1968 tab number is 3652, not 8519 (1970 GTO). Any comments?

The GTO boosters rods have an "A8" stamped on them. I have seen this on GTO boosters all the way up to 1971. I think that is more of an application number not a year/date...could be wrong, but just seen it on more than one years booster(8519,1954,3652 etc.)Plus the TA's have a similarly placed stamp on the rod, it is 0D and is the same for 1970,1971 and 1972...but, I could definately be worng.. more of a TA guy than a GTO guy...

I have nice assembly line original Booster removed from a '68 GTO.
Model number stamped onto tab is "3652". Date stamped onto different tab is "353"

Is the assembly line original 3652 stamped with Delco Moraine?

No.
Boosters didn't have Delco Moraine stamped on face until '69. Service parts may have had this as well after '68.

I could not get to my boosters tonight - they are tucked away.
