Big classic truck auction in Nebraska
I was looking through the hundreds of old trucks at this huge auction in Nebraska. Most are probably for parts only but there's some interesting projects. I kinda like this 1958 GMC grain truck - maybe a face only a mother could love? (this era of GMC trucks used Pontiac engines.)

Still cool, I would just prefer someone else to own it. |

If I had a farm and a big shed I'd be all over it. I'd clean it up and leave it original, and then maybe just drive it around on back roads once in a while.

Very Cool Stuart! My Father was a truck mechanic @ a GMC dealership in Cleveland, Ohio from 1959 through the mid 80's. I was born in '62 & these along with the cab overs that they called "Cracker Boxes" were the ones I remember Dad putting me up into as a child. Fond memories of these trucks from the age of 3 or 4 on! God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/

Those cracker box cabovers were interesting - that short little cab saved space but they probably weren't very comfortable.

I drove a cracker box for Allied Van Lines in 1978!!! Actually made many over the road trips in it, mine even had a sleeper! I might have nightmares tonight!

A lot of heavy duty GM trucks from late 50's to early 70's had a 305 V6 under the hood. They even produced one that sported plaid valve covers

So very true Stuart!
With a short wheelbase & being out front like that, it was like riding a bucking bronco. @limejudge69....Dad bought a 3/4 ton brand new in 68 with that engine. It would pull a house down, but struggled to run much past 55 MPH with a 4 speed & a 4:10 rear end! Several versions of that V-6 were produced up to & including a 351 in some of the trucks. Of course the V-12 702 which is two of the 351's built together is really cool & I had several times over the years thought about buying one, rebuilding it & making it run on a nice display stand! I had a summer job one year when I was in college driving a GMC cabover box truck that had a V6. I don't remember which displacement it was (probably a 305), but it was pretty gutless. I think that particular truck was just flat worn out.

As Mike said there are so many projects on there it's incredible all one would need is pocket change and a trailer.
