Rear Cross-member (in front of the gas tank) that mounts the upper control arms.

Fabricated reinforcements that attach to the upper control arm bolts and the lower front rear control arm bolts. This supports the cross-member sop it doesn't rip out under a hard launch. Factory ones were stamped steel.

Are you sure about that? Hard to tell as there is no reference to size, but they look to be only 4-5 inches long in those photos. Plus, the braces you are talking about are c-channel braces like I have pictured below. Of course there may have been more than one style used, but these are the only kind I've ever seen used from the factory (and the ones in my photo are reproductions but look more or less similar to the originals).

Not sure what those brackets are in post #1.

They are not the rear end reinforcement braces.

The illustration below shows the rear crossmember brace.

I know exactly what the parts in your picture are, I have had them on my car for close to 50 years now. But thanks for the great picture. You do great Pictures. Post up more of them or provide a link to your build, please. Repo or not they look good.

Thanks for the kind comment.

That particular photo is from my Chevelle wagon build:

http://www.macswebs.com/richl79/65tudorwagon/index.html

I have a similar site for my L79 Chevelle:

http://www.macswebs.com/richl79/65L79/index.html

And one for my 2006 GTO:

http://www.macswebs.com/richl79/myGTO/

The site I started for the old GTO was never really kept up to date, but I do have a lot of good photos I took along the way. Here's a link to what shows on the website though:

http://www.macswebs.com/richl79/64gto/index.html

And another poor one for my pickup:

http://www.macswebs.com/richl79/69c10/index.html

As I mentioned above, I have a ton of photos of all of them that aren't on the websites. I like good photos to document things along the way and to hopefully help other people out when I can.

Must be an A/C bracket.

Is it a brace for the starter motor to the block?

Holes seem large for that Geoff and the starter supports I have seen wrap somewhat around the bottom of the starter.

Due to the different angles on the pieces ends, I thought it might be a non GM part fabricated by a shop for the same application 60stuff posted his info for. Not as nice as the real parts but it might work if the right length and angles.

No clue, it was just a thought. and I am not sure Rich-tripower.

Due to the thickness of the metal maybe support bars for the rear bumper on a A-Body

Hard to tell the exact size in the OP. My first thought was a brace between the core support and inner fender. Maybe yes maybe no?

A picture with an extended tape measure would give a sense of scale.

I don't recall seeing anything like that when I put the 64 GTO together a few years ago. Of course our GTO has very few options (no AC, no PS, no PB, etc.) so it may be for installing something ours doesn't have. Also, if it is from a 65 even more bets are off!

Thank you everyone for the replies! I didn't take this apart so I am trying to figure out some of this stuff. Sorry for the missing info from the op. It is a 64 GTO with few options...no A/C, PB or PS. The bracket is about 7" long and has bends on the ends...but not the same angles...not sure if that is factory after "adjustment". I am not even sure that the bracket is factory. I have a couple more pics of it and again...Thanks for the help!

The bracket is not from your Pontiac.

I ended up with a couple of parts like that (didn't belong to the car) when we completed our GTO. Odd stuff seems to accumulate when the car is apart for so long. Ours was apart for over 20 years.....

In the end, if no one here recongnizes it I would have to agree with 4GTOSplus.

While it looks similar to the rear a/c compressor bracket (1970 Firebird), I don't think that's it.

Thanks for all of your input! I brought this home in 2 trailer loads and 3 truck loads so....could be a seat bracket for a 52 Farmall 'H' too! I am going to put it in the unknown bin and press on. Thanks!
