Saving a 1965 ..... Lemans?
We have lift off. Finally getting to start restoring my Lemans. Previous owner started to clone to a GTO, taking it back and keeping it a Lemans, just because you don't see too many these days. Let the restification begin.

Excellent....Good luck with it. It looks pretty solid.
BTW - I wish I had a lift like that....color me green. |

No need to justify keeping a LeMANS, besides they were here before the GTO
Best of luck with the project.

I did it. Have fun with it - you're right about their rarity: I'm usually the only '65 LeMans at all Pontiac shows, even.

I found a really nice car to start with. Florida car, PO had the car stripped and metal work mostly done. It only needed a trunk pan, floor pans only where your foot sits, and both glass channels which was done when i got it. All in all they had alot of the hard stuff done, but hey had welded up every single emblem and trim screw or clip hole. So after i get the frame blasted, i will put the body on the rotisserie and start finding the rest of the holes and drilling them back out. Engine wise, I've found a 389 from a 65 that will be finessed a little and installed along with a 200r4 overdrive and some 3:55 gears. It's a factory air car, so all of that will be going back in too. I'll have plenty of tech questions for the experts, as i bought the car home in boxes. I restored a 66 GTO 20 years ago, so I've got a pretty good idea how this goes, but they're all a little different so i'm sure i'm going to need to buy a vowel of phone a friend multiple times.

Good luck with the restoration. To clone or not clone? I had the same choice to make with my LeMans and chose to keep it LeMans since the VIN number gives true identity. bt

Nice to see! After all, what looks better than a 65 Pontiac A-body vert? What are your plans for paint and drivetrain? Best of luck and please keep the pics coming along the way.

Been busy the past month. Trying to get the frame into paint so i can get the body onto the rotisserie and free up the lift. Should be painted by the end of the week.

Rich, I will be following your build closely. And, PS, I got those rubber plugs Monday. Thanks again.

I think I'm okay. Ordered 3/8 supply and 1/4 return from the Right Stuff along with clips. Should arrive early next week. If I get stuck, I'll let you know. Your frame looks sweet. Is that powder coat?

No. Actually that's just the primer. I will be painting it tomorrow. It is the Eastwood Epoxy primer. Paint will be the Eastwood Extreme Chassis paint with the ceramic in it. I'll post a couple pics of that once it dries.

Looks good. Nice to see another Lemans not cloned. After Cruisin The Coast this year I think I will tear mine all apart and do the same. Keep us posted on your progress.

Frame looks great Cardo, but I think you're going to need more washer fluid to finish the car.

Lol! You caught me... on sale for 48 cents a gallon... couldn't resist. There's 8 more gallons on the other side of the garage.

They sell several variations of the stuff here in Oklahoma. Some of it will freeze easily even in our fairly mild climate...buyer beware...
