Exclamation Interest in a ultra type race at Norwalk?

Since many here live long distances from Norwalk, and brackets don't inspire many to make the trip, would there be a spark to spectate or participate in a ultra type heads up class?

If some are not familiar, this type of heads up racing is very popular in the brand x racing world allowing just about any combo, NA, nitrous, turbo, supercharger, BB, SB to compete against each other. Tire size is limited to the popular 275 radial.

I would be interested in a possible part sponsorship to promote the class and would welcome other people or vendors to consider this venue.

Shoot with ideas or possible scenarios......

the great thing about ultra is just about every combo can run. We would let you run, but on 4cyls. It would be neat to see that bad boy power plant trying to hook on 275s tho!

Yeah, back in the fold, I thought it may strike a broader interest than what is going on in the little world of ponchos. Sell that poncho motor yet? It needs to be in its' rightful place in that bird.

Why limit tire size? Puts some tires on those B_ TCHES and let them RIP out of the hole!

Jc i can run the 275 and a plate, but in the intrest of getting more cars you should try to bring in the fogger and 29.5 x 10.5. Take a look at the Xs rules and also OSCA nastalga true street you will find they have all combined rules and such for cross over and most of the cars are running pretty close. kinsler and i just submitted something to nmca for plate and fogger parity there.

I also know of atleast 2 companies that i might be able to get some sponsorship for you.

....basic format start. The current rules in brand x ultra seem to be fair for the guys already running a Pontiac, so there would little, if any modifications needed to run.
I propose the basic rules need to start around different aero bodies tho, especially if this were to be a 1/4 mile format.

1. The early bird, second gen bird and 61-63 lemans, tempest all run at the same basic 2975 NA ultra weight. (Of course, this doesn't apply to power adder cars). Any 64-72 A-bodies need to get 50lb. If anyone wanted to run 3rd or 4 gen. add 25 lbs over base weight.

Ray, ideas noted. Not ruling out a tire or adding a fogger change, but on such short notice, mixing classes would create more problems.

I would be my suggestion to leave the car bodies out of the rules. I don't think it's enough difference to play with considering the rest of the differences in the combinations. Just my opinion though and obviously I would be interested

I agree if it would be a 1/8 mile format. As speeds go up tho in the 160s to 170s in a 1/4 it is a significant factor. Just trying to be fair.

mike, not doubting your observation, any figures to back this up? Not set in stone. The frontal area is significantly smaller on the 61-63 cars vs: a 64.

I'd be in. My suggestion is allow 29x10.5 for NA cars so guys like Dwight would run it and keep it an 1/8 race. Power adder guys will kill the NA guys in the 1/4, imo.

Aren't the good mickeys allowed in ultra for NA cars = or better than the 10.5s? ..... good thought, 1/8 mile would take the body differences out of the mix.
