Wrong Power Steering Pump...
So I took my leaking power steering pump in today to replace it. It was on my 70 GTO but it's a 76 block and the pump is the later model teardrop shaped pump. The new one was EXACTLY like the old one in every way, except where the pulley mounts to the pump and where the pump mounts to the bracket were Female. My pump is male... meaning a nut holds the pulley on, not a bolt. We couldn't figure it out at the parts store. It wouldn't be a big deal but they also couldnt find a pulley to match the female pump. Anyone have any idea what the deal is here?

My pump is like you say with a nut holding the pulley on, it is originally from my 71 Lemans. So I would assume if you ordered a pump for a 71 Lemans it should be the one you need.

Yep I just looked it up on Oreilly's web site. One for a 71 shows with a threaded shaft for the nut and the one for a 76 Pontiac is for a pressed on pulley, the threaded hole in the end is just for the install tool, not a bolt.

One more thing, the part number of the pump I believe you want is 20-6176 and that's an A1 Cardone number

Ok, so that's sorted out. But the back of mine has two threads instead of two bolt holes. I assume with a few new pieces of hardware this will mount on my bracket just fine?

You would have to swap those studs to the new pump from the old one. they should just unscrew. Be careful not to lose any spacers from those studs when you take it off the bracket, and remember where they go.

Not sure if they are still available, but they used to make/sell rebuild kits that included seals/orings. I installed one a few years ago, and if was a fairly easy project. Might be something to consider if the cost of the pump is a lot more than the rebuild kit.

pump is $40. Plus my core has been rolling around in the back of my 71 Chevy pickup for the last few days..... Might as well just replace it.
