I keep topping them off with gas and then burn it out of them.

Mine will see the road until the first snow storm. After that it's a long slumber until spring.

I can usually get close to Christmas before the driving season ends.

As long as there’ hasn’t been any recent salt down , why do u guys put them up for the winter ? Snow and ice aside , what stops you from enjoying a ride on a cold day ?

AGREE, I live in Pa. and we sometimes get a lot of snow. sometimes not so much. I never drive my car on wet , snow, salted roads,until rain cleans them up. I do drive my car all year , just not as much in winter.
This year I will be doing work on it. which takes me a long time anymore at my age catching up with me(70). 20 years now and I have never "winterized" my car.

I actually like driving on cold days. The problem is the salt. As soon as it starts getting down to freezing they start using it here. They use a combination of NaCl, MgCl2 and sand. Other than that, I'd drive all year.

I drive mine any pretty day until the first snow, regardless of temp.

Like Keith, I'm one of the exceptions here.

Despite living in the "great white north", I've driven my cars in every single month of the year.

Some examples:

I taught my grandson to drive a stick in the GTO the day after Thanksgiving.

I've gone Christmas shopping the Saturday before Christmas in the GTO.

After completing the install of the fresh 462 ci Pontiac motor in the GTO in January, I took it out for a comparison drive to the original #'s matching 389 and then a second trip to the exhaust specialist to put in the 2.5" exhaust system.

I've actually driven with the top down in February (beautiful sunny day about 50 degrees) to our local winery for lunch.

Of course I'm selective of the days I take the toy cars out, but I will and have driven them in the winter in MN/WI.

It's best to store them before the roads are salted. It's a pain to try to wash and clean the salt off once the temperatures are below freezing.

The salt is put down with the first snowfall, and it remains on the roads until the spring rains wash it away. That's why we put our cars away before it happens.

Less of an issue in the South, but if they salt for a rare snowfall, it will be the trigger to wait until at least the next substantially rainy day (or two).

I'm way up north so winter is a disaster.

They were testing beet juice a few years ago as a salt replacement - not sure what happened with that - maybe shot down by the car lobby...lol

It's the sand and bad drivers otherwise.
