H.O. body stripe 68' only?
my question is (and I think I know the answer) was the H.O. body stripe like the car pictured (not mine but saved the pic as I love the look) used only on the 68's I've done some searching for the answer but apparently in the wrong places
The reason I'm asking is I love the look of it and since my 69' is a 350 H.O. car I'm on the fence about adding it even though I'm guessing it doesn't belong ..... so if I do decide to go for it what color stripe would in your opinion look best on a Matador Red w/black vinyl top and red interior car??? input good or bad appreciated.

I like the look in the attached photo above. Hard to beat white stripe on red background. Perhaps consider reflective white like Judge stripes do at night, they show up really well.

I'd do a black stripe to compliment the top. I like the look.

I may be guilty of being the one that made up those stripes.
I know I made some one off ones before(turquoise comes to mind) So the HO from Firebird made in the 68-9 A body Sprint stripes. Stripe color normally goes with the body and interior color. PMD has a stripe usage chart, which is part of the sales album. When I can get my hands on mine I ll post it.

Cammer-6 both the exterior and interior of this car is red so I think I would have to agree with Greg on the black stripes since the top is black, I would like to see that chart though but the real question here is would I be able to talk you into making me a set and what would it cost me if I could talk you into it?

Cammer-6, Can you make the HO stripes (black) for a 4-dr Custom S 350/HO? I'd certainly be interested if that is possible...since you do custom stripes. I thought about hand making them myself...laying out 3 rows of black stripes and hand cutting the H.O. lettering, but if you can do this with a graphics software and cutter, that would be awesome! They just need to be extra-long to cover both doors and a little end piece at the rear quarter...front fender is the same.

Running stripes on mine for years. Cammer-6 I could use a set of white HO stripes if you’re making them (2 door ‘68 a-body)

The Firebird had a model called HO so that's why it had a stripe like that.
The A-bodies didn't have a model like that--just an engine--so no stripe. But the Sprint 2-door had a stripe like that. I think creating an HO stripe for an A-body would be kinda cool. |

It's somewhat reminiscent of that great GT-37 stripe in '71.

took some digging but I found the file for 68-9 A body Sprint stripes
will need the door measurements for a 4 dr(both front and rear door separately ,add nothing)

center part of door will do
I add some to each end so they can be wrapped around the door edge. I would rather have excess than shortage I think starting in 68 the 4drs were a longer wheelbase than 2 drs so theres going to be some excess on the rear 1/4

Cammer-6, the front door is 40" wide from front to back at the center (blue tape is the top of the stripe) and 35 1/4" for the rear door at the top of the stripe. The rear quarter looks to measure from the 33" point (at the bottom of the stripe) to 38 1/2"...maybe?...at the top rear point of the stripe. The front fender should be the same as a 2-door A-body.
Yes, the 4-dr's had a 116" wheelbase (4" longer than the 2-drs). Dennis |

I like the stripes mainly because my 350 HO convertible is triple white. Needed something. I also enjoy the controversy surrounding them generated by this post some 17 years ago! Cammer, if you can make a white set with HO Please PM me with cost.
