Hot Rod is a really good movie, I have it on VHS. Can't find it on DVD. I'm going to have to get it converted. I'm thinking that it was originally a made for T.V. movie. I have always liked those straight axle Willys.

I have it on DVD- the guys at our Autorama that sell all the old movies had it. If anyone needs it the show is coming up in two weeks - I could grab a copy or two.

Hard one to find is the first "Gone in 60 Seconds" with the original soundtrack. AFAIK it never made it to DVD.

1979 version. Not to be confused with the stinking '07 movie with the same
name. It's no cinematic masterpiece, but if you like cars it's definitely worth
a watch.

I'd like to add the California Kid (1974)

I have it on DVD. The 1974 original. Great flick. Also the sequel with much of the same stuff, is on youtube for free.....1977's Double Nickels. Check it out.

Besides Two Lane Blacktop and Vanishing Point, for sheer fun and laughs, Hot Rods To Hell cannot be beat. (From 1967)

25 years ago I bought many hot rod VHS tapes from Ron Main (the landspeed guy) for my video store. Anybody know if he still has the "Main Attractions" business?

Looks to be defunct? Sold to Ron Martinez --> Hotrodmemories.com
Site shows Tom Dulaney as the man now, but links don't work.

Thanks to the Wayback Machine archive, you can still look at their selection

re Gone in 60 seconds "I have it on DVD. The 1974 original." with the original soundtrack (Sunshine Superman) ? Any chance of a photo of the cover ?

Problem is that Toby was kinda loose with all kinds of licensing issues for Gone and permissions for copyrighted songs was one of them. That is why the reissue by Denise on DVD has such a bland soundtrack.

I have the original VHS but have not found it on DVD so a picture of the cover would help or would swap for an original Vanishing Point with the Charlotte Rampling sequence.

Tell me about it. I've got the original on VHS and DVD. When I got the DVD, I was like "Why did they replace all the songs with really bad porn music?"

Watched the remastered version, and it was readily apparent they made it "more
betterer". Why??? And honestly, I didn't even care for the original soundtrack. It
wasn't until the start of the chase that I finally threw up my hands. The car alarm
definitely had a fire bell of some kind under it's hood. Where was the damn bell?

While we are talking about movies
There’s to me the best of all , gumball Ralley! Basically what cannonball run was a remake of in the 80s

Then there’s the one w
Ron Howard where he steals the 68 Camaro race car from the track for some girl, that one basically was the predecessor to the dukes of hazard. Can’t remember the name off hand
