Default 1968 1969 GTO Hardtop Power Antenna assembly

Up for ale is a complete power antenna assembly for a 1968-69 GTO hardtop. All included in this sale are as follows: Antenna assembly with good mast, lower mounting bracket to wheel house, wiring harness, coaxial cable, switch with retaining clip, & floor protector with screws. I assembled this entire setup, hooked a good working radio to it and tested everything. All works great. The switch has been epoxied due to the base of the switch detached from the chrome assy. I made sure the switch works. I even took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts. The lower mounting bracket where it touches the wheel house has some rust, but is all intact. The cable protector was blasted and power coated, the motor works well. I had to replace the antenna mast because the exposed part when all the way down was terrible looking. The bottom section now is very presentable. When I was assembling the antenna back together, I cleaned the area where the plastic coil on the mast goes and applied grease to it for smooth operation. When the mast is all the way out (extended), the very end (last section) has a wave in it. It doesn't prevent the mast from retracting or extending... The top chrome bezel needs to be replaced with a reproduction one. Everything else is ready to go. I'm asking $750 for it plus shipping. PM me if interested. Thanks... Mike

Hi Mike, by the bottom section of the mast do you mean the stationary section (5 or 6" I guess) that is always visible regardless of the antenna being raised or lowered. If so could you post a clearer picture of that area.

Yes, that's what I am talking about. Everytime I post a picture of something chromed, you don't get the true visual effect of it. This is the best I can do...

The reason I ask is my latest GTO still has its factory power antenna but that stationary part of the mast looks almost copper, like the chrome plating has worn off. The moving part of the mast is fine, I never realized that was part of the mast.

How confident are you about the switch repair, I've had bad luck with epoxy on those things.

There isn't alot of pressure on the backing, so I would say it'll be fine. The only way it'll fail is if someone pulled hard on it after it got installed... IMO...
