Default Cam lobes

Here is a before and after of a lobe from last years damage. I got most of it cleaned up with a file. I was wondering since this is a billet, if the hardening process is deep enough that this cam could be run again?

you can send it in to see if it can be reground, might require longer pushrods if so?

Cleaned up with a file ?????? Your lifter would be rubble in a matter of minutes.
Get it re ground, only hope.

Not a specific answer but a fwiw.
I was running a UltraDyne solid roller cam with 0.4300" lobe lift when one lifter went bad and damaged the lobe. I sent it to Tim at Bullet Racing for inspection with the intention of having it reground with the same .050" duration but with a 0.4176" lobe lift. It was ok to do so without affecting the heat treat depth and the base circle was hardly changed enough to even mention. But I did ask though. No need for new pushrods.

I had a broken a HR lifter break a wheel on a billet cam and CC fixed it with the same specs as original. Looked just like your cam lobe. I would not trust it just filing it.

Yes, send it out to the manufacturer, as they can fix it like new!

I was just bored yesterday and wanted to see how it would clean up instead of throwing it on my scrap pile. Its a comp cam. 280/284 .440 lobe.

I believe the metal on the top was debris from the damage , not from the cam itself.
