Chinese made I assume? I've had good luck with Maxxis, made in Taiwan if I remember correctly.

A few years ago, Goodyear and Cooper were only American made tires, period.

We broke a lot of belts in GY Marathon 15" load range D. Load Range E tires are worlds better. Tire Rack tells the country of origin on the specs tab. Different sizes of the same brand can be made in 2 different countries.

Too many heart aches with the Marathon. Switched to LT tires. Time is another factor to worry about if you tow a lot, replace every 2-3 years.

Have had tread separation on Carlisle E rated radial, sidewall failure on Maxxis E rated (though definitely better tire than Carlisle) went to Michelin XPS rib, pricey but took away the tire concerns.

A few years ago (when we still had a Pontiac event in Tulsa, this is 2nd year in a row that we have not...) Tom Wilhite was traveling towards Tulsa, had a trailer tire blowout, replaced it, had another blowout down the road. He said screw it, went back home. He has this cool 2 axle trailer that the 59 and 58 travel in, custom made just for those 2 cars.

In conversation with him about this ordeal, he runs his tires 4 years, and that's it regardless of how much tread or perceived visual condition. He had a tough time getting someone to build that trailer in a 2 axle configuration.

My point of conversation IS, the age of your tires is important!!! This horse has been whipped to death here, also.

Don't just buy the trailer tires someone has on hand, get the best load rating, not the best price!!!

Everyone have a safe and fun time at the event!!!

I just upgraded the axles on my 18' car hauler from 3500 lb to 5200 lb and had to buy new 6 hole rims but they didn't sell wheels by themselves so all wheels come with a tire mounted. They came with a 205/75D-15 that was a 6 ply. I blew one to bits the first day I pulled the trailer. Put my old 10 ply tires off my old 5 hole rims on the new rims now. Finally found a 6 hole rim for a spare yesterday...

Just thought I'd bring this thread back up.

I'm on my 4th year with 15" Maxxis E rated tires on my triple axle trailer.I have been running them at 65psi.. have 2000 miles left to pull this year. Hopefully those tires make it through the rest of the season before I get new tires.

Take a look at these when you replace them.
I ran the Maxxis for years and had good luck with them. Started running these this year and can't believe the difference in the way the trailer handles.
They are a 12 Ply Load Range F with a design like a over the road tire.
This tire was almost 28lbs heavier than the Maxxis and side wall 2x as thick.

If you have a 8 hole 16 inch wheel, there is now a conversion rim to take the Lo Pro 19.5 tire that are rated at 3970 lbs @110 PSI, load range G each. They say that this solves trailer tire problems altogether, but it's not for the faint of wallet, estimates around $3500 for replacing all 4 tires and wheels with the rims, and Lo Pro tires.
