Default PHS for Chevrolets?

Is there a PHS equivalent for Chevrolets? My son in law just bought a '67 Camaro that was advertised as factory. I pointed out that it had all the interior venting for factory A/C, but none of the underhood A/C parts and am wondering if it really came from the factory as a 396 equipped car.

There is not a PHS equivalent for Chevrolets.

However, on a 67 Camaro's cowl data tag, it should have a "4N" (396/325hp) or a "4K" (396/375hp) if it was a factory big block car. Believe that stamping will be close to the bottom of the tag. I don't think a 396/375 horse was available with a/c.

Have your son in law check out Camaro Research Group (CRG). An excellent website specializing in the 67-69 Camaro with a little Firebird info.

Another document for the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, similar to the AMA for Pontiacs.

Picture of his cowl tag attached. Looks like a "4P" engine, whatever that is.

It's probably a SS350 (350/ 295HP) with Powerglide (and AC with console)
Should have a 12 bolt rearend?

Default Thanks guys.

Using the information from www.camaros.org I was able to decode the cowl tag for my son in law, and found additional locations for drivetrain decode if he wishes.

That "4P" code can be either 295hp/350 V8 or 275hp/327 V8. Apparently it has to do with suspension modifications for these engines.

I appreciate the help from you guys.

Well of all the wrong engines to have a 396 is a good choice! Run the codes and block casting numbers to see what it came out of. Let see some pics of the car also please.

4P code designates SS350. It's not a factory big block car, but having a big block is pretty good problem to have.
1967 Camaro SS350 convertible. 3rd week January build. Bolero red with white top Custom red bucket seats, AC. Powerglide with console. Tinted windows
