Lol.....Pretty sure I have a video of it. We used to do a lot of grudge racing back then and always ran with the clocks off so it probably wouldn't count.
I can post up the time slip. The car ran low nines on spray and hurt the feelings of a lot a Brand X guys. |

I had a 96 welded on mine and the front Edelbrock was filled in.
It was stockish.

Pontiac blue paint and the Edelbrock gone, 99 out of 100 people would never notice the angle plugs. Hell 50 out of 100 probably want to know why you painted your SBC blue?. That is until they saw it run. Then they would know "that sure as hell isn't any SBC!

Any Pontiac guy would know they are not factory iron heads- the paint is still on the exhaust ports!

Last year my 1978 Firebird running best so far with 330 lbs driver was 10.57 @ 123.5 3500 lbs race weight Kaufmen Edelbrock heads with 5000 valves and beehive springs no port work .
Kaufmen picked out the cam ( Comp cam 274/280@.050 on a 108cl installed at 104 intake centerline .594/.589 lift solid flat tappet ) 1.5 Crower stainless steel rockers Victor Jr 4150 with a ezplate system and a super sucker 1" spacer with a 4150 1050hp cab running 102 leaded. 3 1/2 of 110 VP and 1 1/2 gallon of 87 ) 440 ci 4inch stroke 30 over 455 block 2" Dougs headers with 18" extentions 3 1/2 , th400 trans brake , 8" PTC 4500 stall convertor 3.73. 12 bolt rear end with all calvert front and rear bolt on stuff for 2nd gen F-body . I run 28.5 x 10.5 slicks on 10 " rims at 15 lbs leaving off trans brabke at 3200-3600 shift at 6000 and goes through the lights at sea level at 5600 rpms need some 4.10 or 4.33 but the car is deadly . I bought a Mark Sullian E85 1050 4150 carb but cant mess with this combo. deadly never had a car like this but have seen a few at the track . Now to fix the dumb ass monkey behind the wheel that makes all the mistakes LOL |

Before painting put wet steel wool on the heads and let it rust. It will stain the aluminum. A light coat of paint and it burns off and looks like rust under it.

No I don't Paul. You can practice on an aluminum scrap though.

I tried it and had no luck.... I think it's an Internet myth that keeps getting passed on as truth.
