That car looks like it just sprung off the pages of Car Craft in the late 70's early 80's. I remember with the rage was fender flares and metalflake! LOL! There are some very period correct items for that era. The plastic chrome side bullet mirror, valve covers, tires, bolt on ladder bars, etc. It is like a time warp. All the mods were consistent with that time period. Man we were partaking way too much in the recreational drug scene!

Wow. Eye catcher. Definitely a period piece. I thought I was looking at a grown-up "Hot Wheels" custom car.

Not a horrible price point. And it can be undone without too much trouble. Or, keep it for a conversation piece.

At least it's not "donked".

The inside of the doors are like new. I don't believe I've heard that as a selling point. Haven't seen metalflake that large in a long time...must've been tricky to lay down that smoothly.

I must confess.

My first car was a 73 Camaro with an L-88 hood, Mickey Thompson N50 rear tires, side pipes, and glassed in flare extensions and rear wing. The car was painted in bright blue metallic with the heavy metal flake shown on this car and a white and black interior. The "Beast" would change from blue to gray to purple depending on the lighting and could be seen roaming the street of St. Louis in the 80's and early 90's. Wish I had saved the pictures of it as I had to sell it after getting fired.

I see what's in your "stable" now. I'm guessing that getting fired was a blessing in disguise, both in vehicle choice and your ability to afford them.

I never had the opportunity to do any weird period stuff. But my first car back in the mid 80's (78 Formula) had some crazy accent pin striping flourishes around the door handles and going around the back window. It's strange to relive what we thought was a good idea at the time.

Hard to believe I used to think these were the coolest kinds of cars in the late 70's early 80's. Side pipes, wheel flares, diamond tuck and an engine sticking through the hood. Didn't seem to matter that the foot tall air cleaner is what was sticking out.

I still think these period correct Mod cars are cool! The unfortunate thing, depending upon your viewpoint, is that so many of these have been lost to time. A few of them have survived and are as interesting in their appearance as they are in their stories. I'll stand up right now and say that within the next 10 years we will see a resurgence in interest in these early period customs and they will jump in value. Very hard to duplicate, hard to maintain in top condition, hard to ignore at a show & far more interesting than the sea of over restored factory cars.

This mid year Corvette at the MCACN show was purchased by a member here and was a shrewd investment!!!
