Default Braided fuel line longevity?

Got some little black specs in the carb passages...again.
Dropped the filter and opened up. Its clean.
Guess i'll have install another one just before the regulator.

when they satrt doing this it is time to replace them. if the filter is clean that means one of the lines downsteam is coming apart. if you can't figure out exactly which one, replace them all.
a lot depends on the type of fuel and if the lines ever sit with no fuel in them and they dry out.
i replace mine every 3 or 4 years.

Thanks again.
Hopefully i'll find the prob this weekend.
3rd time in 3 yrs i've had to clean the carb, but each time theres less crap.
Looks like black paper gasket material, but its so small hard to tell. So was think'n rubber line or foam.
I only use the blue gaskets in the carb, so its not them.
Fuel in it year round. Start and run it every couple weeks to keep me motivated.

BTY, anyone have extra bowl bolt "metal washers"?

My lines lasted almost 20 years, then after switching to pump gas they went out in a year. I think the mix in pump gas is harder on them. Different brands last longer also.

The teflon liner lines last alot longer.

Ethanol is really hard on rubber, and it's getting harder and harder to find pump gas that doesn't have any...

In the aircraft industry shelf life is two years and anything in the engine compartment is two years. there are exceptions but thats the general ruel.

the reason I mention shelf life is that I gotta wonder what happens to all that hose that expires after 2 years. They cant just throw it away as it is tooooo expensive so I wonder?????

Anyway, Yo take a brand new hose and a hose older than two years and compare the flexability. New hose is very flexable. The comparison is amazing.
Try assembling flarred fittings using hoses that are old, It almost impossible.

two years even if it looks pretty

I had the same issue. Has to do with the type of material in the inside of the line. Some race fuels will eat it up. The Sunoco 120 plus NOS stuff did a number on mine.
This pump gas will bring out the pin holes that the shreading of the inside will show.

Use the better braided hose they offer if a long stretch is used.

Retired, my dictionary is missing that page. Mike is trying to re-invent the horse and making that GTO faster. I've got the car now, just don't have a way to get it to the track yet. Life is good, but frustrating at times.
