Default Weight aluminum heads

How much lighter are the e-heads over stock Pontiac iron?

The E-heads are about 60 lbs lighter than the pontiac iron head!
E-head about 30 lbs
Iron head about 90 lbs

E-heads weigh about 36# each fully assembled. I have a pair still in their boxes, the shipping weight listed on the Edelbrock box says 37# (UPS tag).

Iron heads are about 63# each fully assembled. I've shipped quite a few so I'm familiar with the actual weight.

Thanks for the clarification b-man. I knew for sure about the E-head weight as I noted the shipping weight on the ups tag when I received them. I thought that the iron heads weighed more than 63 lbs (sure felt heavier than that when I pulled them off my motor while it was still in the car) but I'll take your word for it.

Thanks guys, I suppose ya probably know the weight difference between the stock intake and a Performer too?!

I;m thinking that I might just have to cut another coil out of the front springs with these mods.

I'm diggin the fairy tail b-man.

About a 20# difference on the earlier iron intakes like yours, a bigger difference for the later heavier iron intakes.

Tom I sure thought that after picking up the iron head to stand on the scale with it!

Thanks to technology for "walk on" digital scales so I don't have to hold wiggling 80 lbs Labs while my assistant reads the scale! But I was younger then too!

Years ago, I had a very very large German Shepard, Skip, that I used to lift into a double stone laundry tub to give a bath.

My beautiful 90# wife, (who is a lot smarter than I am) would hook his choke chain to the fence (he never left the ground) and wash him very easily. Who says Engineers are smart, DOH!

As Engineers we tend to "over think" things sometimes and the simple solution is just too damned simple! LOL! Look at the German Engineers in WWII. They built some of the most beautiful overly complicated, overly machined weapons in the world at the beginning of the war. It took them several years to realize they needed to start "stamping" the chit out FAST and just "KISS" it! LOL!

Sorry, off topic.
