Anyone have their pipes exit infront of the rear tires? I'm wanting to redo my exhaust from a 2" to 2.5", but also want to do something different from the normal rear exit. Any advice or ideas?

You need to make sure the exhaust exits after the glass in the car. If not, you get fumes inside.

What kind of car?

Sorry, don't know why I didn't list my car. It's a 67 Tempest convertible with a 400.

There is some discussion on this in the thread here.

Also I'm pretty sure both dynomax and flowmaster both make mufflers with in/out on the same end that would work for "daytona dual" style exhaust exit.

Ok, thanks. My current exhaust is 2" with glasspacks. I'm getting tired of it sounding like my friends trucks. I think what I'm going to do is go up to a 2.5" exhaust, and have them exit infront of the rear tires, with either a dual square tip or something like a Z-28's tips, only not as flat, if that makes any sense. Or maybe some of Pypes 2.5” to dual 2.25” Slip-Fit Chrome Splitters. That might like cool on each side.

You can make it look real good in front of the tires if you use the right mufflers like someone said above. If you use regular configuration mufflers the system will be real low off the ground. Flowmaster makes a real nice muffler with an entrance and exit on the same side, or just look for a pair of AAR Cuda or T/A Challenger mufflers.

Anyone got a part # for them? I've looked at both summitracing and the flowmaster site and am not having alot of luck finding one.

Look through the catalogs flowmasteranddynomaxandspintech.

Which actual part # you need will have to be figured out by you measurements and needs.

I have, I've spent over an hour today looking at those sites plus summitracing.com and have yet to find what I'm looking for. I'm trying to find something with 2.5" in and out and the same end.

I still think the "custom order" side exit spintechs have an edge though, especially with the oval side exit extensions and tips.

Believe me Stephen I did'nt just look these up out of the blue!

I've spent some considerable time studying this idea myself too.

Just makes it easier to go back and find the info for refernce later on.

It only SEEMS like it was easy...

I had called our local shop about this, they said it would run about $290 for everything. He was saying though after they clear the frame rails it would be fairly low to the ground. I'm thinking about trying some Z-28 style tips like the ones below. Only problem is they have a 2.25" inlet. So I don't know if I'd have to go with a 2.5" from the manifolds to the mufflers, then a 2.25" from the mufflers to the tips. However if I pulled this off I think it would look pretty cool.

Hmmmmm, you are still looking at having at a minimum, 2 7/8 hanging below the frame, unless they smash th pipe to give you clearance, then they change the flow as well as sound. How about using a outside the frame dual tip, such as a late 70's early 80's trans am, just behind the rear axle, so that they can be seen and still exit the underneath sid of the car, but not too low.

So how did the Cudas get away with it?

The cudas have a leafspring rear and a different frame configuration. Weve done a few of the systems like you want to do in our shop and they didnt end up that low to be honest. I thought they looked sharp.
