Default Electric Fan 1976 TA

Looking through Summit there are tons of fans but none for a direct fit that I can make out. At Ames they have one that is for a 70-81 Firebird and shows a part number FP192C. Have anyone any experience with this fan such as fit and quality. Or does someone have a part number a make for one that would work for my application. I am running a Griffin aluminum rad that is the same size as my original, and I am using my original shroud. Thanks.

I've read that a Lincoln Mark VIII fan is one of the few single fans that will move enuff air to cool a Pontiac. There are usually some Mark VIII fans for sale on Ebay. You'll most likely have to fab your own mounting system, since elec fans come with their own shroud.

Or you can look for a dual fan set-up that will move 4000cfm or more.

Many have found that the cheaper fans will not cool a Pontiac.

Yup I can confirm that ford fan moves a ton of air and keeps everything cool even with the AC going.

I installed the Flex-a-Lite Black Magic fan on a '77 T/A (mild 455, 3.23's A/C). That fan comes mounted in a fairly large shroud, but there was still a gap on one side. I fabbed a block-off plate to seal that area, and added some "trap doors" that will open at highway speeds to provide a bit more airflow.

Used a DC Controls PWM unit to control the fan speed.

It was about 5 years ago when I installed it. Talked to the owner a few months ago, and it is still working perfectly.

My new Mark VIII fan will cool anything. It fits in the TA like a glove and was a piece of cake to mount (see pics below).

Be sure to get a true Mark VIII fan as that name is included in a lot of the ads for fans that are not.

Excellent advice.
