421 Block - Sevice Replacement?
A friend just bought a 1964 421 block, standard bore,. Faint code on the front. He was wondering if its an SR block. Either way, its a cool score. Pics below:

Yes, the rings where on the pistons and the pistons where in the bore.

The front 2 four bolt caps are missing the outer bolts.

I never realized that the 64 motors did not use a full length windage tray and still had the bell housing reinforcement ribs from the 425 trophy motors.

Maybe you missed this thread on 1964 389 and 421 blocks: https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=772995 And my 1964 421 HO build, both threads show the windage tray setup used on 1964 and earlier engines: https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=771741

It’s been a loooong time, but I had a 389 425 T block for a while and just forgot about the windage tray deal.
