Do any of y'all have any experience with Edelbrock's new Performer RPM intake with the 71/72 Ram Air set-up? From what the Edelbrock Tech-line guy said, the RPM is approximately 2" higher than the stock (cast) 400 cid intake. I am installing the Ram Air system on my 72 and I am concerned about not being able to shut the hood if I use this intake. There is "some" room available where the hood pan boots mate with the carb pan. But how much extra "float" is present is the real question. I don't think that there is a spare 2" that can be taken out of the system. Thoughts?

I don't know how close the hood would be on the GTO,but Bryan Blocker makes a air filter system to make the shaker scoop fit on the early TA's when using the Performer intake.

Might contact him for info.
