b & m torque converter id help
i found a b&m torque converter in my shop that i have had for several years. it is stamped B&M and below that its stamped 1824. i m pretty sure i took it out of a turbo 400 trans several years ago. i have called the holley tech line which now or did own b & m and was was put on hold for 30 minutes once and again 40 minutes again today with no one picking up. thought someone here might have a idea. thanks

If I had to guess by the looks of it I’d say it’s a Holeshot 11” rated at 2400 stall. They have been painting the Holeshot converters a dark color and the cheaper Torquemasters light blue. If it was a 10” the mounting lugs would stick out further on the O.D.
Again, just a guess.

Yes, I had such a holeshot 11" model and that's what you have.
Behind my built 455 it would flash to 2700 once the fluid was up to temp. |

I have one of those here. That's the Holeshot 11" converter with about a 2500 stall. I also have the other one they used to call the Saturday Night Special that is a tighter ~2000 stall. For some reason they now call that one a Holeshot too, lol.
All those part numbers and names have changed now with all the different business acquisitions. I've seen that issue with cam companies too, and when you come across an old cam number you need some specs on (because you'd like to know the lash for instance) They aren't much help these days. Seems like when these companies change hands they don't have much interest in keeping old records, and you sit on the phone for eternity. |
