Default Calvert Shocks, best setting?

Any of you guys using the Calvert rear shocks on a 2nd gen Firebird/TransAm with old school lift bars or slapper bars? I have a set on my 79 and I have the SSM lift bars. Have tried different settings but got mixed results. Is it possible that you might need to set them differently side to side? It seems like the right side would need to be 'loose' to keep from unloading the tire when the body tries to separate from the suspension, or am I thinking about this all the wrong way? I do have shock extensions to cover the extra travel.

Should be no need for the shock extensions as the Calvert shocks have a lot more travel than the normal shock. The setting will be dependent on how much traction you have. On my car, I use QA1 stocker star single adjustable on the front with the Calvert shocks on rear and slapper bars. When I'm running around on the street with normal tires, I will run the front on two and the rear on full loose. At the track with traction, this setting is too loose, and I will set the rear one position tighter, and couple positions tighter on front. I video the starts and use slow motion to determine the need for changes from there. As an example, I just had my converter loosened some, so likely will hit harder at the line and need a little tighter settings. I am looking for the front to use all available lift without banging against the stops. Looking for the rear to separate some, but not too much. The better the traction, the tighter the suspension can be to propel the car forward and not up.

Only have one decent pass on some older slicks with no strip tuning as of yet. Went 7.12 with a 1.69 60 ft. I need one or two good nights at the track to get this thing dialed in. Got new slicks now and should be running at track Fri and maybe Sunday if need be.

I run the calvert shocks and I run them 1 click from full loose. Been pulling 1.36 to 1.38 60s on a 9 inch tire.

Thanks guys for the input; I might get a chance tonight to try it out. Will probably start full loose and work my way up assuming I can get it to hook.
