Actually a M/T over the counter 2-4 intake for 55-64 pontiac heads. If it had a 1 for the last missing number it would indeed be a factory 61-62 421 SD 2-4 intake.Tom

Got its brother on a wire rack at home.

They work pretty good for a factory SD type intake.

Would that fit both the 540306 and 544127 heads?

Thanks Tom.

How about that! I didn't know the way to ID the difference was that missing last digit. I just thought it was a factory flaw. Interesting!

Found 1 of those intakes (with a 1) at a gas station in St. Louis back in 1966. It had a pair of 409 chebby carbs on it. Emptied my wallet & Paid $75 for it. Sold it a few years later & got my money back. Little did I know.
Please don't tell me what they are worth now. Aw go ahead.

I found one in Dad's garage after he passed away.

I was going after the Bath Tub intake; when I picked the bath tub up it was sitting on a piece of plywood. Under the plywood was one of these factory 2x4 intakes.

I never even knew it was there.

Mickey was casting up a bunch of Pontiac Parts in that time frame.
The intake IS ALUMINUM and a high quality aluminum.

The M/T version performs as well as the OEM SD version and is many $$$ less to
purchase when you find one at a swap meet.

Another way to tell is that the M/T version had provisions to route the cross-over water thru two different circuits (to match the head water passage opening) They used cup plugs to seal the non used openings.
