Car looks like new. Would the 455 H.O. decal fit under the GTO decal like they did on the fenders ? Is that Lou-Lou Blue ?

Lucy blue, yuppers....it's actually a shade darker than a factory lucy blue, but it's close. When I get it repainted someday, it will go back to original.

It did have the 455 HO under the GTO on the deck lid. I switched it to what it should be, but I'm not sure that is how this car came from the factory. The guy that restored the car (whom I bought it from) said it was that way when he stipped it and it was original paint, but who knows for sure. My car was a VERY early car, so it could very well have come that way.

I'm not sure if mine is correct or not but before the rust got to it the "455 HO" was under the GTO on the decklid and also on the wing. Was the "455 HO" decal correct on the wing?

Thumbs up

Looks GREAT, Pat!

BTW, would you mind posting the measurements you used? I have several of the NOS "GTO H.O." deck lid decals, purchased from GM MANY years ago. Need to peel the GTO 455HO decal off of my car and apply the correct decal.

Thanx!

I beleive it could have come from the factory either way. It looks like yours may have been reapplied at some point Elmer, as I see the 455 on the spoiler side. They only did that on 71 Judges I believe, but that's not saying it couldn't happen!

Thanks for the complements guys, Lloyd, if I had used measurements, I'd post them. I ended up marking where my previous GTO was and basically slid it to the left a bit and took off the 455. It's almost like the 1" up and 1" over was used to the HO part. The measurement from the Wagner car that is pictured with mine was close to that, but it was more like 3/4" by 1". I can measure how mine is on my car though. Although mine is only a guestimate.

Still looking for the "EXACT" factory measurements....anyone out there have em? Been searching for that for years...............

Thanks for those dimensions, Pat.

I wonder if Mark (CDN2PLS2) might contact Terry Pope with the black post WW5 car that was in HPP and aks him to measure his deck lid decal position for us?

If it will look OK, I'm prolly going to position mine to the current GTO position like you did with yours. I'll wager that the paint might be faded to where it would look goofy it I did otherwise.

Thanks again.

Pat,

Did you need any heat on the old sticker to remove? Or did you just peel off? The "Ram Air" stickers on the sides of my hood scoops are incorrect so I'll be looking to correct this some time soon.

Thanks!

Vince

Unhappy

Well, I just went out to my GTO and checked to see if I could put the "GTO H.O." decal in the same position as the current "GTO 455HO" decal - no way! The "O." would be off the RH edge of the deck lid.

So . . . I'm gonna hope that the paint hasn't changed color when I peel off the current decal.

My paint is over 10yrs old. A little wax was all it needed. In the right angle, you can see the rements of where the old GTO was, but you'd have to know it was there in the first place.
