Default Harmonic Balancer ‘66 326 engine

Is this all there is to the balancer on this engine? It seems like there’s nothing to it. It’s got the pulley bolted to it and the belts all line up with the accessories. I was just surprised that this thing is so small.

This type was used from 1959 - 1967.

Note that the bonded rubber balancer assembly bolts to a separate hub, sandwiched in between the pulleys and hub. It looks like there’s nothing to it because the balancer nests inside the pulley so you can’t really see it unless you’re looking directly from the front of the engine.

This is unlike the 1968 and later unit which has the hub integrated into it with the balancer ring bonded directly to the hub.

OK, thanks for clarifying. After seeing your pics, I realized that part of it was missing. It just had the pulley bolted to the hub, without those internal parts. I went through the big stash of parts that came with the LeMans and found them.

Glad you found them. You need all of the parts B-Man mentioned in his post.
Look at each part for wear and being in good shape prior to re-installation on the engine.

I have one that is cracked in key way. Torque the bolt to recommended spec. I use my cracked one or did to turn over engines by hand as tolerances just slide on easily and hasnt broke completely.
