My 1973 TA has a two prong sensor on the back of the left cylinder head. It was used as part of the emissions system to sense engine temperature.

Whoa! Talk about bringing back a thread from the dead. I was still in high school and only owned my '71 T/A for about a week when it was originally posted.

That is the cold feed switch. Its used to sense the engine metal temperature. '83-84 Trans Am with carburated engines have a similar switch to control the ram air hood solenoid.

Ive noticed there is this new generation of 2nd Gen Trans am Firebird Owners, From about 18 to 25. Ive had my 74 455 TA since I was 15 and that was three years ago. I know alot of kids around here with 2nd gens, and rare ones too. Not only that but we seem to be more knowledgeble than most of the older pontiac fans.

key word ..... "'seem' more knowledgeable" ;~) we just let them learn from their mistakes!
always good to have todays generation into anything pre-80s and without an "H" on it's nose!

Norwood, you're right. What was I thinking. With his superior knowledge to us older folks (and) his years....errr... months of experience, I welcome him with open arms.

P.S. All in good fun.

I agree with all the above comments, younger folks are most definitely welcome!

It is INDEED refreshing to see the younger generations interested in and owning older American iron, especially Pontiacs!

As car collector said - "all in good fun".
