Block question?
Can anyone tell me the difference between 67 400 blocks. Is the machining different say for a WT, XM, YS block? Besides the code stamps, what is different. Thanks

From what I've seen with Pontiac engines, the only difference in blocks of the same casting number was the stamp itself and the engine internals--cam & pistons in some cases.

yep, no difference at all. Same as the rearend housings that have seperate codes but are the same except for the internals. The block could have ended up anywhere until the guy with the hammer and letter punches showed up.

It's amazing how two little stamped letters change the impression and value of a piece of cast iron!!
