I think Functional Shaker was pointing towards the last picture
- just showing his phone number.

As in -
i know the price is ludicrous - and so do you.
Here's my phone number , call me for the real price.
And let me skip out on the 13% eBay/PayPal fees .
That's how it works.

I'm surprised anyone in longstanding with eBay would pull these stunts.
Would probably be inclined to use an account with less establishment - for when eBay suspends or closes it.

I didn't look through all of the pictures, didn't see the phone number.

I also agree that Paypal and Ebay fees have gotten excessive. I choose to not advertise on Ebay.

Their fees force sellers to charge more to make up for the loss. Although Mr. Weaver's prices are excessive.

Items do not sell, You do not re list, you still get ebay fees. Using ebay for advertising with high prices still costs money.

Wow. I have a 1971 complete shaker assembly with no cracks and drain hose still attached, how much would that be worth? Must be 12k at least. LOL.

Sure about that? First 50 items list free. Final value fee only if item sells. Maybe I’m reading it wrong. https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center...ller-fees.html

Default They get their pound of fleash

So even this link doesn't cover it all, but if ePay determines/suspects a transaction completes outside ePay, final value fees assessed.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/p...policy?id=4272

It does have to do with relishing, kinda, but I can't find the wording.

Different levels of sellers - get different levels and amounts of price breaks, special offers, and special promo's - associated with listing fees and final value fees.
In addition to the basic standards.

I doubt this form of - call it advertising/publicity - costs very much if any at all .
Especially for seasoned sellers.

It costs nothing to list. eBay asses final valuation fees. I just posted a few things last night. Zero fees. If they sell I pay 10%. Plus 10% on the shipping price. Plus 3% on the PayPal transaction. Now if I say sold one on Craigslist and didn’t want to raise suspicion with eBay I’d jack the price to the moon, let the auction run and never relist it. Costing me NOTHING.

This^^ I found a starter for my 70 on Epay and noticed the city was the same as mine. I messaged the seller and he gave me his phone number. Turns out he lived about 5 miles from me so I went over, looked at it, and gave him an offer he accepted. When I got home, the same Epay ad was up, but now the starter was almost triple what I paid. He didn't have two of them
