Default Going to miss Norwalk again, Transmission

Was going to take the V8 Solstice to Norwalk, actually finished installing the new Tremec 6060 last weekend, put around 350 miles on it and everything was fine until yesterday when driving it home and it started making horrible noised. Drove the car to the place I bought the beefed up trans from and they said it is internal, take it out and bring it to them and they will repair/replace it.
That's great but that means I can't drive it to Norwalk as planned, and see if it will better the 11.8 it did in the 1/4 before the swap. Kinda of down at the moment. 2nd year in a row I won't make it. Last year was work related as a coworker had a heart attack and I had to cover for him.
I may show up Saturday and say Hi, don't know yet.

Unhappy

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Jeff, hopefully you'll be able to bring it next year. I had two things go wrong with my car since Monday, which made me think I wouldn't be racing this year. Fortunately I was able to fix the problems.
Good luck.
Jeff B.

Thanks Jeff,

Looks like my wife is going to let me take the G8 GT to the track on Saturday. So hopefully I will see some of you there.

Have never known very much about the Solstice's.
Only seen just a few on the road.
What kind of 1/4 mile time did they turn bone stock ?

11.8 seems incredible

The Turbo's run low 13's with the GM Tune, high 13's with the stock tune, My car has a LS2 in it so not exactly stock.

Well I had an 08 turbo solstice it was a nice car & quick for a 4 cyl. However they are to small for me. & they have no storage. I also enjoy fast pontiacs my fastest trans am runs low 10s the other TA low 12s. However for everyday driving you can't beat a corvette I ended up selling the solstice & bought. Low mileage C6 6spd. The Vette has much more room. I'm sure your solstice is a beast. We have a lot in common in automotive taste. I built a 77 vega with a 1962/1963 Olds aluminum 215 V-8. Which I pulled out of a 62 Tempest.
I had to buy new rods for mine from a Ferrari/Rover/Jaguar dealer they were ordered & shipped from England, I had a lot of money in that engine. Is your 215 an old or a Buick? I hope you get her fixed soon. Have fun with the G-8

I understand the issues with space in a Solstice or Sky, I am only 5' 9" so I fit OK but if I was much bigger in any direction it would be a tight fit.
My Astre's 215 is a 63 Buick, I used late model rover parts to make it look more period correct even Pontiacised the Rover cast valve covers and installed a Buick 350 HEI. It runs pretty well but doesn't hook up very well. So the car runs low 13's.
The G8 ran flawlessly as usual, ran 14 flat. I had fun glad I went, saw people I have not seen in years. Good trip, made it into the 3rd round Saturday, lost in the 1st round Sunday on a double breakout, the car kept getting faster and I didn't keep up on the Dial in. But a good time.
If we both get the Aluminum powered H-Bodies at the same place, I see we really are not that far away from each other.
