Default Summit Racing exhaust systems for Pontiacs

Has anyone purchased or seen or heard the summit header back exhaust system that comes with turbo mufflers? I am wondering what they sound like. Any links to GTO's running this system available? The summit part number is SUM-680121. Thinking of buying it. I have already purchased the Pypes downpipes and the Pypes exhaust tips.

thanks
alan

I've used their mufflers a few times. For being as cheap as they are, they have sounded great on a couple of 400's.

Summit told me yesterday that their mufflers are made by one of the major mufflers makers in the U.S.but he could not remember which one. Not made in China.

Wow, that's with the valance cutouts? And they are fairly centered? Think those would work with the OE type valance tips? Have any pics square from the back?

Thanks for the kind words. No burnout vids yet, still has peg leg 2.78 8.2.

I used a Summit kit on my FB, and it fit nicely. This system was installed new by the previous owner with the engine out, and he came up a few inches short. He also welded every slip joint so it didn't have any adjustment. I put a set of header buddies on it at the front and just behind the mufflers so I could drop out the center sections easily. It doesn't fit great right now, but it will (priorities). I still have some work to do to make it how I want it. Not the fault of the kit, but the fault of the PO'S shortsighted build vision.

The only place I have struggled just a touch is back by the rear quarter near the frame rail. It is a delicate dance trying to keep things from rubbing and getting them centered in the cutouts.

I like the sound, tho. Not too droney, and gives a controllable snarl when you hit it.

^ I like that. I bought the Summit kit for my FB mostly for cost. But the tone has the right balance for me. I don't like too obtuse of a sound, nor do I like it crazy sharp and snarly. I like both aspects. The Summit mufflers seem to be mellow enough, yet let out just the right amount of growl.
