Default Yoke Difference

I have the existing driveshaft and Yoke that came with the car. It has 25 thousandths wear about 5/8 inch in from the end for a little over an inch. you can see it in the picture. I have another yoke that fits in the muncie but it is different, aka a little less metal in the yoke and the current u joint will not fit due to the snap ring areas being different. Any one have this problem, and what did you do to correct it. I do not want to put the worn yoke back in, and if I ordera new yoke which one will it be???
I also attached pictures of my rebuild as it is now.
Thanks

Terry

I wouldn't reuse the old yoke either, that will most likely cause a leak at the rear seal. Measure the length of the original yoke and count the number of teeth inside. These are the numbers you'll need when ordering a new yoke.

the other yoke I have fits the muncie, it is a 27 spline but the U-joint end is smaller.

you can get a conversion u-joint. it has to different sizes in one u-joint. they have them at advance but only an intelligent counter person will be able to pull it from stock. in the chevelle forum people are advised to use them all the time. go to team chevelle and do a search for the p/n. that will solve your problem. i changed rears on my truck a few months ago and had to use one. i got it at a driveshaft shop so they new what i needed when i asked for it. i have used them for years on different vehicles. sometomes the clips are not needed if there are stops at the ends.

Thanks- that will make it easier and cheaper, since I already have a good yoke. zIll pull the old yoke and U joint and take both with me. Hopefully that will help the counter kid.
