So...I have two 455 blocks, which one should I ....
..use for a blown application?
Block #1 is a YY 73 455, with 2 bolt caps, but drilled and tapped for 4 bolt. Block # 2 is a YC 72 455 with 2 bolt caps. I'm using my '77 Chiltons manual to decode these blocks, so if you have a more accurate way, please let me know. I want to use one of these blocks on the street with a blower and the other, naturaly asparated in a land speed car. Yes, the street car is going to be blown and LOTS meaner than the LSR car. (long story..) So, my question is, for the blown car, should I use the block already drilled and find some 4 bolt caps, or should I use the 2 bolt block and drill it for splayed caps. I'm not worried about 4 bolt caps on the land speed car. It's going to be fairly mild...(for a race car..) Also, where is the best place to buy 4 bolt caps, splayed or otherwise? Thanks guys. -Abone. |

From every thing I have read, the 2 bolt block with splayed caps will be stronger. Pro-Gram engineering makes the caps. -Jim

Buy them from Paul Spotts - good guy to deal with. And a good guy for advice.
